Serengeti Cat and Kitten Information

The Serengeti cat is a cross between Bengal and Oriental shorthair cats. This breed is still evolving but the idea is to get a Serval looking cat without the wild genes. Serval cats are not used as part of the breeding. These cats are large boned with large round ears and have long legs.

The coat of the Serengeti is short and thick with distinctively spaced black spots that give this breed the look of a wild cat. The weight of an adult male can range from between ten and fifteen pounds. Like most cat breeds, adult females can weigh between eight and twelve pounds.

The Serengeti is not a quiet cat but rather enjoys playing. They can be quite vocal and enjoy the company of other pets in their environment. These lovable felines are graceful and love the company of their human companions.

Serengeti Cat History

The Serengeti is a relatively new breed having been developed in the mid 1990s. The breed is recognized by The International Cat Association in solid black, ebony smoke, tabby and ebony silver. They are recognized as a developing breed and breed standard has been established.

The ancestor of all domestic cats is the African Wildcat, the genus Felis Lybica. This genus is comprised of smaller cats. Cats are thought to have been domesticated with the advent of farming and the storage of grain. The grain attracted rats and other vermin which naturally attracted wild cats. As time evolved, certain of these cats were domesticated for the mutual benefit of both cat and man. The African Wildcat has certain features which is obvious in the housecat of today.

Feline Health Considerations

Cats who reside in the house should generally visit the veterinarian yearly, unless health problems are evident. Cats who enjoy the outdoors may need to see the vet as many as four times a year. When you take your cat to the vet, be sure to bring along a fresh stool sample so the vet can do a fecal exam to check for worms such as tapeworm, round Worm, whip worms and hook worms. The vet can also check for fleas and other external parasites such as lice ticks and ear mites. Decisions about vaccinations can be made at this time. Maintaining a regular schedule of required vaccinations is essential to good feline health.

Any vet check should include a comprehensive dental examination and a cleaning if necessary. Cats who are eight years plus are considered geriatric and additional blood and urine tests may be necessary to catch any health problems. At about six months of age, the kitten should also be examined for sexual maturity and decisions about birth control should be made.

Serengeti Kittens

The Serengeti is relatively rare but might be found for sale as kittens. Kittens are generally available and the price depends upon bloodlines color and markings. Unlike puppies, kittens should not be separated from their mother until twelve to sixteen weeks of age. Some very important developmental stages occur during this period including emotional, mental and health. Curtailing this development may lead to any number of medical and behavioral problems.

Kittens that are separated from their mother at too young an age often fail to gain weight fast enough, have immune system problems because they have not had enough mothers milk. The may also develop eating and eliminating problems, and can have problems socializing with other cats and wi women's jackets th people.

Every cat and kitten is an individual so not everything in this information may be correct for your cat or kitten. This information is meant as a good faith guideline only.

Home Furnishings Inspired By Great Designers

Furnishing your home is a very private affair, and although tastes and fashions change there are some items that remain firm favourites throughout the changes. The iconic styles by some of the most famous designers have inspired home furnishings that although may not be authentic adhere to a certain sense of timeless style. We take a look at a few of the world's favourite items to find out why they have become design classics.

Charles and Ray Eames
This design duo were husband and wife and worked on many projects together. They are responsible for an iconic coat hook made from white plastic coated wire and colourful wooded balls. One of their greatest items of home furniture was the Eames Lounge Chair. Coming from an experiment with wood chips and glue through a homemade heat press and mould, the couple sculpted plywood to create a new style of furniture that was emulated by manufacturers of home furnishings the world over. Even school chairs were formed by the same process because it was easy and cheap to mass produce, although the design style was never matched, and an authentic Eames lounge chair remains a valuable item.

Eero Saarinen
The Finnish designer and architect is famed for designing an industrialist classic, The Tulip table and chair. Instantly recognisable, the clean and clear lines of this dining set were made according to a minimalist aesthetic. By reducing the number of legs per item to one, the 'under-table mess' which was deemed unnecessary was eliminated and instead simple shapes allowed the furniture to be a valid aesthetic object in its own right. As far as home furnishings go, this is one of the most widely copied styles, even by fellow designers. The Bombo Stool by Stefano Giovannoni is a design classic in its own right and yet the style is heavily influenced by the aesthetic appeal of Saarinen.

Mies Van Der Rohe
The Barcelona Chair can be seen in the lounge of every hotel, the waiting room of every office and dentist and even in the women's coats reception area at a school, but you can guarantee that it is not an authentic seat bearing the designers signature. Based on the design of folding chairs from many centuries ago, the Barcelona chair is a timeless classic. The modernist design is just as popular today as it was when it was first released back in 1929. Authentic versions are handmade and are available in 200 different types of hide set on either a stainless steel or chrome frame. The simplicity of style makes this a world favourite for unauthorised reproductions.

Eileen Gray
The product name E1027 may not be as memorable as some of the other design classics, but the minute you set eyes on the chrome tubular occasional table with smoked glass top, you know it is a style that has been adored since its conception in the 1920s. Made for her house, also called E-1027, which she shared with architect Le Corbusier the table was designed to be used for romantic breakfasts in bed and formed part of the Bauhaus classic aesthetic all around the house. Replicas of this table are manufactured all over the world, but not to the same dimensions. Its continued popularity is testimony to its title as one of the great classics in home furnishings.

Old Dog Care And Comfort

If you're a dog owner, no doubt your dog is part of the family. As your dog gets older, he or she may have needs that were not present when younger. Old dog care is an important part of your dog's life as he or she approaches the senior years.

Different breeds of dogs age at different rates, and oftentimes, those who are "mutts" are in general hardier than purebred breeds. However, no matter the breed, at some point, a dog is going to exhibit signs of aging, and you have to be ready for this so that your beloved pet can receive the care required for an older dog.

Just like human medicine, veterinary medicine has made great strides in geriatric care, so that our pets can live longer than they ever have before. With a little bit of effort, you can provide your old dog care suitable for your faithful companion, so that he or she has a comfortable and pleasant old age.

The Aging Process

Some signs you may notice that show Fido is showing his age may include: sleeping more; eating less; being startled by noises, bright lights, or lots of activity; not coming immediately when you call (may indicate hearing loss or physical difficulties such as arthritis); a duller coat; skin with less elasticity; eyes that are not as bright or may be clouded (including the possibility of cataracts); or loss of bladder or bowel control in a dog that was previously well housetrained.

Keeping Your Senior Dog Comfy

You can provide proper old dog care so that your senior dog remains comfortable in his or her old age.

First, most dogs know, for example, that they should not be having accidents in the house. Therefore, make sure that you are soothing and comforting if your geriatric dog should happen to have an accident in the house. This is not a time to punish, because the dog is already going to feel that he or she did something very wrong. Instead, provide a comfortable spot for your old dog to lie on that's easily washable, such as a bed or comfortable rug. That way, if an accident happens, it's easily cleaned up. If your dog must stay out of places, such as a favorite room, where accidents simply can't happen, use a baby gate to keep him out of that particular spot.

Second, old dog care should include regular veter women's coats inary visits to make sure your dog is up on his or her shots, and that everything is being done to make sure he or she remains healthy. One of the most important things you can do for your dog is to make sure that his or her teeth are clean and healthy. Get your dog's teeth cleaned on a regular basis if necessary. Not only does an unhealthy mouth cause things like gingivitis, soreness, or tooth loss, but it can actually also cause other systemic problems like heart problems and arthritis.

Third, make sure you provide the proper diet for your dog. Your veterinarian can give you proper foods that are more appropriate for older digestive systems, as well as for dogs with such problems as kidney failure, heart failure, or for those who have trouble chewing.

Fourth, make sure your dog stays safe. As hearing and eyesight fail, and as coordination becomes less trustworthy, your pet may have trouble with things like stairs, and can actually fall and injure himself. Strategically placed baby gates by stairs can help ensure that your dog doesn't take a tumble.

Fifth and finally, make sure you provide lots and lots of love to your aging pet as part of your old dog care. Remember that your pet is the same loving dog he or she always has been, with just a little more gray hair and a little less agility. Shower him or her with lots of attention just as you always have, so that he or she still feels like part of the family.

Need A Complete Facial Rejuvenation? What Are Your Options?

Are you beginning to wonder about your skin as you age? It just doesn't seem as healthy as it once was. You've started to develop wrinkles, lines, crows feet and your skin seems almost to sag. What you need is a total facial rejuvenation.

Now of course you could attempt to achieve that by means of facial plactic surgery, or perhaps microdermabrasion or even botox injections, they all attemp to achieve facial rejuvenation by different methods. But I wouldn't let anyone near me with a knife, a syringe or any other form of hardware. The risks of failure are too high and the results of failure are devestating. Just look at those women who's photos you see in the womens magazines who look like they've aged 50 years when they've actually had some form of medical facial rejuvenation procedure.

No, none of that for me. There is a way to improve the look and health of your skin naturally, using both lifestyle changes and top shelf natural skin care products, that will be more likely to produce a much more effective and longer lasting facial rejuvenation than any surgical method could.

You've got to remember that skin health is related to overall health, and that if you keep yourself healthy generally you will also keep your skin more healthy, and it will thank you for it by showing less wrinkles, and looking firmer, more youthful and more elastic, with a much better facial complexion.

There's 2 major lifestyle factors to avoid if you want to maximize the chances of your skin maintaining better health into old age. Don't smoke and don't allow yourself to get sunburned. Both are terrible things to do to your skin.

And your diet, including more fresh fruit and vegetables, and your exercise levels directly affect your skin health, and the rate at which your skin ages believe it or not.

And if you're after a total facial rejuvenation there's more. You see although avoiding smoking and sunburn and eating well and keeping fit are extremely important to skin health, that's not enough for optimum skin health. You need to use high quality skin care products as well.

Unfortunately those skin care and anti aging products you see on the shelves aren't high quality. All those face creams, moist fashion coats urizers and night creams don't really do all that much. They sell not because they work so well but because they are so heavily promoted by TV advertising using big name stars. And all that advertising and those stars cost heaps, so not a lot of money actually goes into high quality ingredients into the products.

There are high quality skincare and anti aging products available, but they aren't found in the stores, and chances are you won't even have heard of them, because the company that makes them doesn't advertise or sell through the stores. The huge savings made by avoiding advertising and cutting out the middle man are put right back into the products to make sure that they are the highest quality skin care products that it's possible to make. And they are the worlds best skin care products.

Use great skin care products, make some simple lifestyle changes and you've got the best recipe for complete facial rejuvenation. Of course you could try the surgical procedures like botox or cosmetic surgery or worse, but don't there's always the risk that you'll end up looking like those photos in the magazines. A long lasting satisfactory facial rejuvenation it's not.

So remember, if you're aging and wondering about the best way to achieve a total facial rejuvenation, follow some simple advice. Don't smoke, don't get sunburned, eat the best diet you can, exercise regularly, and use the best skin care products in the world.

That will result in a facial rejuvenation that should stay right into older age.
